JT2 – Indrahaar Pass Trail

About Indrahaar Pass

Home of the Gaddis, this trail will take you to witness one of the most stunning views offered by the Dhauladhars in the Himalayas. Indrahaar Pass stands like a wall between the Beas and Ravi River Valleys. This 4342 Metres high mountain pass has been the lifeline of the Kangra Valley – a well-treaded path of the local Gaddi tribe who usually use the trail to herd their sheep across the mountains to enter Chamba. The pass itself is much revered, especially by trekkers as it offers astonishing views of the entire valley around. The trail however, is slightly towards the difficult side, particularly towards the end of the journey as you start approaching the top of the pass.

Triund plays the role of the base of Indrahaar Paas and is an extremely popular trekking destination, especially for first time trekkers looking for an easy-to-manage hiking experience. The place is a beautiful ridge located at the height of 2850Metres, with the mighty Indrahaar Pass on one side and the gorgeous Kangra Valley on the other. Camping in Triund makes you feel like you are up and above the clouds – a feeling that is indescribable, especially for someone who is on their very first Himalayan trek. The trail to Triund is fairly easy, with a mostly well-marked walking path and a slightly steep section towards the end. Most trekkers usually take about 5-6 hours to reach the ridge.
